Welcome to the Murphy family page
Thank you for helping me reach my ALS Walk fundraising goal! The Walk raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
My mom, Linda Murphy, was diagnosed with ALS in April 2024. We are very fortunate to have the support of ALS United and have an amazing social worker, Kellie, who has been there for every question, concern, or equipment request. Already, we have needed a fair bit of assistive equipment and this organization maintains a lending closet that provides devices that we would otherwise need to purchase - this is a god send! This is the best way that we can give back to an organization that is already giving so much to us and other ALS patients. ALS is a very difficult disease for the patients, their caregivers and their loved ones and there is still so much to learn about the causes and potential treatments, and hopefully someday a cure. Your support is so very appreciated by myself and my family. Thank you!
