Welcome to Maria's ALS United Fundraising page
Andy and some of his army celebrating a milestone family moment
Some of you know that my brother, Andy, was diagnosed with ALS in August 2024. His daughter, son, and our niece ran the Chicago 2025 marathon with the ALS United Greater Chicago team. I was there with Andy, his wife Cindy, and many other family members cheering the runners on. I had thought my marathon days were well behind me (my last one was 2010!), but it's put in perspective that I actually *can* run while those with ALS are quickly robbed of even the basic ability to walk. Andy is a former marathoner, triathlete, Ironman finisher, and all around git-er doner :-) His story motivated me to become part of team for 2026.
I'm joining Team ALS for the Chicago 2026 Marathon to raise funds and awareness to help fight back against this debilitating disease. I hope you can donate to help ALS United continue to provide much needed patient services, resources, and also so they can help fund global, cutting-edge research to help those living with ALS.
I am grateful to ALS United Greater Chicago for helping my brother so he is able to participate in the milestone moments with friends and family during this shitty disease.
I appreciate any support.
