Why I'm running for ALS United
My grandmother, Louisa Borges, was diagnosed with ALS in 2001.
ALS is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. Presently there is no known cause or cure.
My grandmother lived with ALS for 17 years.
She was resilient and strong through it all. An absolute inspiration to me. I'm running for her.
ALS United Greater Chicago provides much needed patient resources, funds cutting-edge research globally, and much more in order to help those living with ALS.
I'm honored to run for this team and raise funds and awareness to help fight back against this terrible disease. Please join me by donating and helping me reach my fundraising goal of $2,200—any amount helps and is appreciated!
