Welcome to my 2026 Andy's Army Marathon Journey
Hello and welcome to my Andy’s Army 2026 Marathon Journey!!
I am running the Chicago Marathon again in support of ALS United, an organization that means everything to my family.
My dad, Andy, is living with ALS. In our family, we simply call it the “Shitty Disease.”
ALS robs you of your ability to use your muscles. It starts in ways that feel small but are devastating, interrupting your ability to hold your own cup of hot coffee in the morning, roll over in bed at night on your own, or hug your friends. Over time, it can even take away your voice, including the ability to say “I love you” out loud. Every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed with ALS.
Andy is a marathon runner himself, a triathlete, the kind of person who shows up at the drop of a hat to help anyone who needs it, and someone with a true never-give-up spirit. Watching him face ALS with that same determination is both heartbreaking and inspiring.
I ran the marathon last year, and I am incredibly proud of what we were able to raise together. Even more meaningful has been seeing firsthand the incredible work ALS United does for our family. They go above and beyond, and every service they provide is completely free of charge thanks to your donations.
When ALS steals your sense of normal, ALS United steps in by providing resources, connection, care, support services, equipment, reassurance, and friendship. They have walked alongside us during some of the hardest moments, and we are deeply grateful.
Please consider donating and supporting ALS United. Your generosity makes a real difference for families like mine and helps ensure that no one has to face ALS alone - and hopefully the research and innovation of ALS United can find a cure to this shitty disease.
