Thank you for helping me work toward my ALS Walk fundraising goal! The Walk raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
My mom, Linda Murphy, was diagnosed with ALS in April 2024. Mom passed in April 2025 after a very difficult year.
We were very fortunate to have the support of ALS United, who provided assistive equipment and support for all of the unfamiliar territory. This is the best way that we can give back to an organization that gave so much to us and gives to other ALS patients. ALS is a very difficult disease for the patients, their caregivers and their loved ones and there is still so much to learn about the causes and potential treatments, and hopefully someday a cure. Your support is so very appreciated by myself and my family. Thank you!
