Welcome to Team O'Carroll
In November of 2024 my dad, Mike, was diagnosed with ALS. While this is a community of people we never asked to be a part of, ALS United Greater Chicago has been a wonderfully supportive community. They provide services that have, and will continue to, benefit my dad and our whole family. This is why we've decided to walk in support of the organization Saturday, May 31. Please read on for a little more info.
If you do not know about ALS, it stands for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease. It robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
