Martha's Little Miracles-20th year Walk!
In August of 1994, Toby’s dad Ed died of ALS. My mother-in-law Martha, determined to help those who have it and find a cure, started to get involved in the ALS community in hope that there would be a cure for this devastating disease. She then proceeded to lay the groundwork for what is now ALS United Greater Chicago. By supporting the team or any of our walkers you will be helping ALS United Greater Chicago’s many multi-disciplinary clinics. You will also be supporting the in-home care support led by our Care Services Team. Your financial support also will help the loan closet, support groups and all the other aspects that Greater Chicago has to help those with ALS. The Walk raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure. This year will be the Greater Chicago’s 20th walk! Please consider donating, walking or both. Thank you for your continuing commitment!
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
