Thank you for helping me reach my ALS Walk fundraising goal! The Walk raises funds to support those affected by ALS and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS can strike anyone, and presently there is no known cause or cure.
I first started walking to raise funds for ALS 10 years ago after finding out that a good friend and colleague of mine, Frank Trikur, had ALS. Frank waged a courageous battle with ALS, but we lost him in 2020. Many of Frank's friends and co-workers have continued this battle with ALS in his memory, through sponsoring this walk and an annual golf outing that was initiated in 2019.
Your support for my walk will help me keep a promise I made to Frank that I would continue this battle for as long as I could.
