Welcome to Erin's Page
I will be running the 2025 Bank of America Chicago Marathon this fall with TeamALS, in loving memory of Mark Conrad. As many of you know, Mark was my dear friend Sam's dad, who sadly passed away from ALS in November of 2023. I have many happy memories of time spent together over the last 25+ years and I feel so lucky to have Sam and her family in my life!
I started running in the fall of 2023 primarily as a way to help with the sadness I felt after Mark's diagnosis. I decided to go for a run around the neighborhood one night after Kev and I put the kids to bed. It wasn't fast, most likely did not have good form or shoes and I'm sure I wasn't able to run very far, but it was impactful.
Since that day, my Apple Watch and Garmin tell me I have run 1,100 miles! I have participated in several 5Ks, a few 10Ks and 3 half marathons, learning new things about running and about myself all the time. I have learned I very much enjoy a challenge and sometimes need to be explicitly told to take a rest day or two. I think dreaming big, setting a goal, working hard toward it and achieving it is pretty great.
My goal for the marathon is to enjoy the team atmosphere, finish strong and hopefully see several of you for a sweaty hug along the way! I can't change the fact that ALS exists and affects so many, but this is something meaningful that I can do.
I have pledged to raise $2,100.00 for TeamALS. Please consider donating any amount you are able to help me reach my goal and to support ALS research worldwide to one day find a cure for this disease. I am deeply grateful for your support!
Thank you!
~Erin
