Running for Gramps: Supporting ALS Research and Awareness
Running for Gramps: Supporting ALS Research and Awareness
In October of 2025, I will be running the Chicago Marathon in honor of my Grandpa Ed, who was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) in 2018 and passed away in 2019. This race is more than just a personal challenge—it’s a chance to raise awareness and funds for ALS United, an organization dedicated to supporting those affected by ALS and advancing research for a cure.
ALS is a devastating disease that slowly robs individuals of their ability to move, speak, and breathe. Watching my Grandpa fight this illness was incredibly difficult, but it also inspired me to take action. By running this marathon, I hope to raise funds that will support vital research, provide resources for families affected by ALS, and bring us one step closer to finding a cure.
Every dollar raised will go directly to ALS United Greater Chicago, helping to make a difference in the lives of those battling this crippling disease. I’m running for Gramps and for everyone else who is impacted by ALS—and for the hope that one day, no one will have to face the devastating effects of this diagnosis.
Thank you,
Kalea Glaser
