Running for a Cure: My First Marathon for ALS
In 2018, my mother-in-law, Page, passed away after a courageous battle with ALS. It was a heartbreaking journey — one that showed me just how cruel and relentless this disease can be. But it also showed me the incredible strength of the human spirit, and the power of love, family, and community in the face of something so devastating.
This year, I’m running my very first marathon — and I’m doing it in her memory.
I’ve joined Page’s ALS Challenge within TeamALS, a team formed to honor Page’s life and legacy, and to help raise critical funds to fight ALS United Greater Chicago. I’m incredibly proud to be running alongside my sister-in-law, Whitney, and cousins Will, Reid, and Aidan — each of us inspired by Page’s life and determined to carry her spirit forward with every mile we run.
Every step I take on race day is for her — and for the thousands of families still facing this disease without a cure.
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is progressive, aggressive, and currently incurable. But through research, advocacy, and support for patients and their families, we can change the future. And with your help, we will.
Training for a marathon has pushed me far outside my comfort zone — but Page never backed down from a challenge, and neither will I.
If you’re able, I would be deeply grateful for your support. Whether it’s a donation, sharing this page, or simply sharing a song for me to add to my running playlist, it all makes a difference.
Thank you for standing with me, and for honoring Page’s memory by helping others still fighting.
