Why We’re Running 26.2 Miles — For Legacy, For Love
On October 12th, we’re lacing up our shoes and running the Chicago Marathon — five of us, side by side — united by family, loss, and an unshakable purpose.
This isn’t just a race. It’s a tribute. A mission. A way to turn our grief into momentum, and our heartbreak into hope.
In 2018, we lost Page Parkhill after a 3.5-year, fiercely courageous battle with ALS. Her strength, humor, and radiant spirit carried us through the darkest days. Since then, we’ve each carried her memory in our own way. But now, we carry it together — mile after mile, step after step, through the streets of Chicago she once loved.
We’re not alone in our grief. We have lost many other loved ones in recent years. We will be honoring them too as we pound the pavement.
Whitney runs for her mom, Page, who fought ALS with unbelievable grace and grit.
Reid runs in honor of his father, Bill, and his Aunt Page.
Stephanie runs in honor of her father, Mike, and mother in law Page.
Aidan runs in honor of her boyfriend's father, John, who fought a courageous battle with ALS in addition to her Aunt Page and Uncle Bill.
Will runs in honor of his Aunt Page and his Uncle Bill.
This disease has stolen too much. It’s time we fight back with everything we’ve got — love, sweat, stories, and yes, even our aching legs.
But there’s another thread that ties us even deeper.
Our great grandfather, Leo Johnson, was a legendary track star — a bronze medalist in the Olympics and a longtime coach of track and field at the University of Illinois. Running is in our blood. And now, it's in our hearts.
This marathon is our movement — a way to honor those we’ve lost, raise awareness, and raise funds for ALS care. Every mile will carry meaning. Every donation brings us closer to a world without ALS.
We’re running for all of those who can't.For future families who deserve more time, more answers, and more hope.
Join us. Support us. Cheer us on. Because love always goes the distance — and we’re ready to prove it.
